Strien Gathers Two Goals in No. 16 Delaware’s 2-1 Win Against Miami

NEWARK, Del. – No. 16 Delaware field hockey checked off its first goal of the season by finishing the weekend with a 2-0 record following Monday's 2-1 victory over Miami at Fred P. Rullo Stadium.
Junior Femke Strien gathered both goals for the Hens to tie her career high for a single game. The midfielder tallied her first career penalty stroke in the 23rd minute before collecting the ball out of a scrum in the 37th minute for her second goal of the day. Classmate Lotte de Koning assisted on the play.
Delaware struggled to capitalize on offensive opportunities in the first half as the Blue Hens outshot the Redhawks (0-2), 14-1, before registering just two shots in the second half.
Redshirt senior Sydney Rhodes recorded four saves to improve to 2-0 on the year.
