NEWARK, Del. – Femke Strien continued her hot hand while two Blue Hens collected their first career goals Friday evening as No. 16 Delaware topped American, 4-0, at a rainy Fred P. Rullo Stadium.
Strien, the reigning CAA Player of the Week, notched her second straight game with two goals, both of which came in the second half.
In the first half, sophomores Bo van Hunnik and Grace Hoepfner each registered their first career goals.
Van Hunnik tipped in the game's first goal from about two feet out on the left side with just 50 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Freshman Ashlyn Carr assisted on the play.
Hoepfner followed with her first career goal just a short while later as she posted a textbook deflection from Strien to capture the goal from five yards out.
Redshirt senior Sydney Rhodes collected her fifth career complete game shutout while logging four saves against the Eagles.
