No. 16 Hens Upset No. 9 Penn State, 3-1

NEWARK, Del. – The No. 9 Nittany Lions scored first, but the No. 16 Blue Hens rallied and picked up the upset by topping Penn State, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at Fred P. Rullo Stadium.
PSU (0-3) held the 1-0 advantage for the majority of the first half before Delaware junior Lotte de Koning notched her first goal of the season with less than two minutes remaining in the second quarter. De Koning executed off a perfect penalty corner with an insert coming from sophomore Grace Hoepfner and stop from senior Ally Pollak, who were each credited with assists on the play.
The Hens came out of the halftime break and took the 2-1 lead off another penalty corner in the 36th minute. Junior Femke Strien registered her team-leading fifth goal of the year while classmate Emily Kresho and sophomore Bo van Hunnik logged assists.
Pollak gave Delaware (4-0) an insurance goal in the 53rd minute by coming up with the ball in a scrum and pushing it in at the goal line.
With the win, redshirt senior Sydney Rhodes posted her 14th career victory and finished the game with one save.
