Baseball Drops Shortened Series Finale at FAU

Rain wreaks havoc on opening weekend
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Rain was the story all weekend long and was once again a factor in Sunday's series finale as FAU swept the Delaware baseball team in a shortened five-inning contest, 8-2.

The Owls got on the board early, plating two in the first inning before a sophomore Joseph Carpenter double in the top of the second, set the table for the Blue Hens to answer.

Senior Jack Goan and junior John Marti each singled and freshman Aidan Riley hit into a fielder's choice to score Carpenter for his first career RBI. Sophomore Zach Lesher also reached on a fielder's choice to score Goan to tie the game.

FAU showed off its offensive prowess the rest of the way, taking control with two more runs in the home half and plating a run in each of the remaining innings.

The Blue Hens will regroup and head to North Carolina to take on Gardner Webb for a three-game series, beginning Friday at 4 p.m.
