Rowing Takes Eighth Place at Head of the Charles

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of Delaware rowing team took to the water Saturday, October 23, to open the Fall portion of its 2021-22 schedule at the prestigious Head of the Charles regatta in Cambridge, Mass.

The Blue Hens suited up for the Club Eights, Club Fours and Alumnae Eights events.

Shining at the regatta was bow #22 competing in the Club Eights race. Capturing eighth place with a time of 17:11.492 was c-Hannah Kirk, 8-Cornelia Meiss, 7-Julia Rothstein, 6-Jessica Dobson, 5-Hannah Walsh, 4-Tynneqa Jefferies, 3-Rachel Henry, 2-Hannah Towhey and 1-Sloane Matthews.

In the Club Fours, bow #50 took 30th place in a time of 20:02.328 with a lineup of c-Tierney Ellis, 4-Meghan Rogers, 3-Sophia Talley, 2-Maria Dupnock and 1-Alicia Stratman.

The Blue & Gold took the homecoming spirit to Cambridge as rowing alum competed in the Alumnae Eights event and finished in 33rd place in a time of 19:13.994. Bow #45 consisted of Alison Gibney '18, Caroline Popielaski '20, Hannah Scholes '17, Izzy Weinfeld '20, Kara North '18/'20, Marguerite McGahay '21, Mia Natale '18, Bryann McMahon '18 and Sarah Shaffer '19.

The Blue Hens return to action next Saturday, October 30, at the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia.
