Delaware Closes Out Regular Season with 3-0 Senior Day Win Over William & Mary

NEWARK, Del. – The Delaware volleyball team closed out its regular season with a decisive 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-17) victory over William & Mary on the Blue Hens' Senior Day Sunday afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center.
Delaware improved to 14-12 overall and 8-8 in the Colonial Athletic Association following its second win over the Tribe in as many days. The Blue Hens will be the fourth seed in the CAA Tournament, and will face fifth-seeded Northeastern in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Towson's SECU Arena.
Lani Mason and Savannah Seemans each posted nine kills against just one attack error on the day, while Grace Underwood and Lauryn Richardson added eight kills apiece. Lily Rodgers handed out 23 assists, while Mason and Katie Turner paced the team with nine digs.
Underwood recorded seven blocks for the Blue Hens, who enjoyed an 11-5 block advantage. Delaware also hit .405 as a team while holding William & Mary to a .132 hitting percentage.
The Blue Hens jumped out to an early 6-1 lead in the opening set and were not seriously threatened from there, going up as many as 13 points and taking the frame, 25-12.
The second set was knotted at 11-11 before UD reeled of four straight points and led the rest of the way. The Blue Hens were up 23-17 before a Tribe service error and a Seemans kill gave Delaware a two-set lead.
After the teams were tied 5-5 early in the third stanza, Delaware went on a five-point run to take control. William & Mary eventually pulled even at 13-13, but the Blue Hens answered with four straight points and led the rest of the set. UD held a 23-17 cushion before an Underwood kill and a Rogers block ended the match.
The Blue Hen senior class of Gabi Zelaya, Adelina Rivera, Turner and Underwood were then honored in a postmatch ceremony following their final appearance in the BCC.
