Men's Swimming and Diving In Third Place After Day One of the Patriot Invite

FAIRFAX, Va. - The Delaware men's swimming and diving team finished the first day of the Patriot Invite in third place of six teams with 195 points.
Andrew Taylor had the top finish of the day for the Blue Hens, placing second in the A Final of the 500 Free with a time of 4:25.71. Gavin Currie had the second fastest time for Delaware in the 500 Free (4:31.32), placing 9th in B Final.
The 400 Medley Relay team of Currie, Eric Veit, Simeon Sabev, Ryan Polino placed second in 3:16.79. In the 200 Free Relay, Veit, Miguel Vasquez, Luke Rautzhan, Polino placed fifth with a time of 1:23.06.
Tonislav Sabev had the fastest time in the 200 IM for the Blue Hens, placing sixth in the A Final in 1:51.85. In the 50 Free, Vasquez placed 11th in the B Final with a time of 20.86, the top time for Delaware.Â
In 3-meter diving, Philip Townsend qualified for the finals placing fifth with a mark of 240.30. In prelims, Josh Shipley placed 11th with a score of 193.20.
Tomorrow the Blue Hens have the 200 Medley Relay, 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, 800 Free Relay and 1-meter diving on the schedule for the second day of the Patriot Invite.Â
