WILMINGTON, N.C. - The men's swimming and diving team completed the first day of the CAA Pod Meet with eight top-three finishes at the Seahawk Natatorium.
"It was a great racing day for our program," said head coach Pablo Marmolejo. "After a sluggish start, the team turned it around for the second session and we had some great swims. We felt the almost month of not racing, but we were able to refocus and compete at a high level. Our diving group also had a great day on the boards, continuing to get better as the season goes."
The Blue Hens started the day off with a third place finish in the 200 Free Relay with Eric Veit, Isaiah Bell, Luke Rautzhan and Toni Sabev completing the event in 1:24.97.Â
Later in the morning Jacob Bishop took third in the 1650 Free with a time of 16:42.93. Gavin Currie, Veit, Simeon Sabev and Ryan Polino followed with a third place finish in the 400 Medley Relay in 3:22.82.
In diving, Philip Townsend had a second place finish in one meter with a score of 244.30.Â
In the afternoon session, Miguel Vasquez, Toni Sabev, TJ Yaglenski, and Isaiah Bell took second in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:31.74. Bryce Ciecko placed second in the 200 Free with a time of 1:42.07.
The Sabev brothers both placed second in their events, Simeon in the 100 Fly (49.68) and Toni in the 100 Breaststroke (55.82).
