Fairfax, Va. – The Blue Hens track and field team had several strong performances at the George Mason Winter Track Fiesta during its final indoor meet of the season.
"I am really proud of the team and individual performances today," says head coach Wendy McFarlane. "We had quite a few peak performances despite this unconventional indoor season. We look forward to improving even more this spring season as we strive to defend the CAA championship title."
Wrapping up an already historic season, Chioma Njoku broke a 12-year school record with a throw of 18.35 meters in the weight throw.
Trinity Tapper moved up to number two in school history, and just .01 second off of the school record, in the 60 meter dash with a finish of 7.60 seconds. Tapper also picked up a third place finish in the 200 meter dash.
The Blue Hens swept the top four spots in the 3K, with Tina Capparell moving up to sixth place in school history with a time of 9:52.85. Sophomore Jessica Pidgeon, senior Susanna Weir and junior Devon Hoernlein followed behind her in second, third, and fourth respectively.
Additionally, the Blue Hen 4x400 meter relay team of junior Halima Scott, junior Alyssa Armor, senior Sydni Stovall and senior Jessica Harding finished third in its race.
