Nieves Fires 66 To Finish Seventh at Seahawk Intercollegiate

WALLACE, N.C. – Blue Hen junior Roberto Nieves fired a six under par 66 on Tuesday to finish in seventh place as the Delaware men's golf team opened its 2021 spring season this week at the Seahawk Intercollegiate.
Nieves, who carded rounds of 78 and 69 on Monday, finished with a three under par 213 score. He made eight birdies during his final round on the par 72, 7,017-yard River Landing course, including a stretch of five birdies on the first seven holes of the course.
Owen Manchester finished in 40th place at the tournament with a nine over par 75-77-73-225, while Michal Bargenda tied for 41st place with a 10 over par 74-74-78-226.
Jack Halleron shot a 14 over par 77-76-77-230 to tie for 47th place, while Hugo Kedzlie carded 26 over par 82-81-79-242 to tie for 59th place. Elliot Haas, who fired a 29 over par 73-82-90-245, finished in 64th place.
Hunter Fry of USC Upstate was the tournament medalist by finishing at nine under par.
Delaware recorded a 294 team score on Tuesday, tying for eighth out of 10 squads with an 889 total. Tournament host UNCW easily captured the team crown with an 838 score.
