Blue Hens Fall To Georgetown, 14-8

NEWARK, Del. – Delaware women's lacrosse fell to Georgetown, 14-8, Friday afternoon inside Delaware Stadium.
The Blue Hens fell to 1-3 on the season, while the Hoyas improved to 1-1.
Juniors Kendra Schweizer, Danika Swech and Meghan Johnson scored two goals apiece for Delaware, while sophomore Eleanor Farris netted her first collegiate goal. Senior Kate Bradford registered two points with a goal and an assist, and senior Hannah Wentzel dished the first two assists of her career.
Senior goalkeeper Kate Brewster made seven saves in the cage for the Blue Hens.
The Blue Hens took an early 2-1 lead through Schweizer, who buried a free position goal just over seven minutes into the first half. Georgetown scored two goals within 30 seconds to go up 3-2, but three straight Delaware goals gave the lead right back to the Blue Hens.
Bradford spun off a defender and deposited her fourth goal of the season to tie the game back up at 3-3. Farris's first career goal came from a free position shot to give the Blue Hens the lead, which Swech doubled moments later as she dodged her way to the goal.
The Hoyas went on a 9-1 run across over 30 minutes of game time between the two halves to seal the win.
Delaware is back in action on Wednesday, March 17 when it plays at Saint Joseph's at 3 p.m.
