Blue Hens Are A Force To Be Reckoned With At Temple Invitational

Philadelphia, Pa. – "We saw some great team energy this weekend," said head coach Wendy McFarlane-Smith, "At this point in the season we have identified our strengths and weaknesses. We look to improving upon our weaknesses over the next couple of weeks - everyone is working hard to achieve their best season."
Aja Davis was a force to be reckoned with winning the 100 meter (12.10s), 200 meter (25.40s), helping the team win the 4x100, and still had energy to run the third leg on the 4x400 where the Blue Hens finished fourth.
Also for the runners, Taliah Cintron placed second in the 400 meter hurdles (1:04.52) while Holly Manning finished second in the 800 meter (2:07.65). The Blue Hens had a first place finish in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 46.98s – the relay team consisted of Trinity Tapper, Kamylin Padgham, Shylehn Ebuenga-Smith, and Aja Davis.
The Blue Hens dominated in the field events at the Temple Invitational taking the top three spots in the discus and hammer throws, as well as shot put.
"I have to give kudos to Bethany Clement," said McFarlane-Smith, "She exemplifies the commitment to hard work that yields result." Clement (54.63m), Chioma Njoku (51.22m), and Kosie Nkwonta (46.82m) nabbed the top three spots for the hammer throw.
In the discus, Myrissa McFolling-Young grabbed the top spot with a throw of 45.02m, Gabrielle Holliday finished second with a 44.58m toss, and Bethany Clement rounded out the top three with a 40.06m throw.
Njoku (13.98m), Nkwonta (12.68m), and McFolling-Young (12.58m) were on the board again for the Blue Hens as the top three finishers in shot put.
Blue Hens also placed first and second in the javelin throw – Megan Albamonti continued her reign with a 43.25m throw and Fiona Letko threw 38.98m.
Destiny Deblock placed third in the high jump with a 1.60m jump. Halimah Roberson also finished third in the triple jump with an 11.75m jump.
Delaware had three long jumpers in the top five with Danielle Rochester (5.11m) taking third place, Trinity Tapper (5.08m) in fourth, and Roshelle Leaks (5.03m) coming in fifth.
The Blue Hens also dominated the pole vault with Cierra Crane finishing first with a 3.60m vertical, Bridget Joyce and Alana Cohen tied for third with 3.45m, Mayson Light and Meredith Krieger tied for fourth at 3.30m.
"There are more records to be broken and personal bests to be achieved as we work towards our peak this season!"
