Blue Hens, Nieves Tied for Fifth at Villanova Spring Invitational

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Delaware men's golf team is tied for fifth place following Monday's opening round of the Villanova Spring Invitational.

The Blue Hens carded a 291 score on Monday to end the day tied for fifth place out of 16 teams. St. John's sits in first place at 277, while Bucknell is second with a 282 score.

Roberto Nieves fired an even par 70 on the par 70, 6,484-yard Radnor Valley Country Club course to end the round in a tie for fifth place among individuals. Nieves recorded four birdies on the day to go with 11 pars.

Freshmen Owen Manchester and Jack Halleron each carded a three over par 73 and are tied for 24th place, while Michal Bargenda and RJ Wren are both tied for 46th place with a five over par 75. Hugo Kedzlie, who shot a six over par 76, is tied for 59th place.

St. John's teammates Jack Simon and Douglas Beney are tied for the lead at four under par.

The final round of the tournament will take place on Tuesday.
