Delaware Uses Longball To Defeat Hofstra, 11-5

The Blue Hens took the weekend series from the Pride after the teams split a doubleheader on Saturday, and remained in first place in the CAA's North Division standings.
Delaware wasted little time in taking control of Sunday's contest, as after Hanna Garber led off the game by getting hit by a pitch and Lexi Moore singled, Glanden delivered a two-run double to leftfield.
Glanden doubled the Blue Hens' lead in the top of the third when she drilled a two-run homer to leftcenter, her team-leading seventh longball of the year. Delaware tacked on a fifth run the following frame as Emily Blum tripled and then crossed the plate when Sarah Bessel reached on an error.
The Blue Hens put the game away in the top of the seventh, as Mendoza crushed a three-run homer to left and Gallardo added a three-run shot of her own later in the frame.
Hofstra scored five times in the bottom of the seventh, including a grand slam by Madison McKevitt, but it was not enough.
Glanden paced the Blue Hen lineup by finishing 3 for 4 with four RBI, while Moore also was 3 for 4 with three runs scored. Gallardo and Kisamore each added two hits on the day, while Emily Winburn improved to 11-0 after allowing five runs during 6.1 innings in the circle.
