Blue Hens Place Second At Towson Invitational

Towson, Md. – The Blue Hens continue to break records and finished the day with a second place finish at the Towson Invitational.
"It's always a pleasure to compete against conference opponents during the regular season," said head coach Wendy McFarlane-Smith, "I'm very proud to continue to see individual improvements from our athletes each week and I look forward to seeing more development in each event group as we prepare for the CAA Championship in 28 days!"
Trinity Tapper ran 11.80 in the 100m dash to finish second and 25.26 in the 200m dash for a third place finish.
Holly Manning earned a third place finish in the 400m dash with a time of 58.22.
Blue Hens finished first and second in the 3000m steeplechase – freshman Katie Hally with a 12:03.04 finish and sophomore Samantha Side finished in 12:11.70
Myrissa McFolling-Young and Gabrielle Holliday came in first and second in the discus throw. McFolling-Young won the event with two meters to spare – her throw of 45.82m beat out fellow Blue Hen Holliday's distance of 43.59m.
Chioma Njoku fourth place throw of 53.59m (175'10") in the hammer throw broke the Delaware school and freshman records. Also in the hammer throw, Bethany Clement threw a new personal best of 51.80m (169'11"), moving her up the number three spot in program history.
Freshman Megan Albamonti has another strong performance in javelin with a throw of 42.16m to earn her a third place finish.
Freshman Cierra Crane jumped 3.56m (11'8") in the pole vault for a second place finish and moves her up to number eight in school history.
Chioma Njoku throws 13.56m (44'6") in the shot put, making her the number five performer in school history, while Kosie Nkwonta throws 13.10m (42'11.75") to move up to ninth all-time.
The Blue Hens 4x400 relay team came in second with a time of 3:54.21 and featured Holly Manning, Jessica Harding, Jalynn Sharp, Sydni Stovall.
