Soccer Falls to No. 22 Princeton in Final Non-Conference Match-Up

NEWARK, Del. – The Delaware women's soccer team fell to No. 22 Princeton 4-0 in its final non-conference match of the fall today at Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium.
"I thought we did really well at times today," said head coach Mike Barroqueiro. "Once you go behind by a goal, you are chasing the game and it changes everything. I know I sound like a broken record, but we can do some really good things. All of these games are a learning experience for us and I do think long term what we are seeing now will make us better come conference next week."
The Tigers (6-1-1) managed a pair of goals in each half to come away with their sixth win of the season.
Mia Reed entered the game for the Blue Hens at the goalkeeper spot late in the second half. It was the first substitution in the net that Delaware has had this season.
"Mia's is a great goalkeeper and has been training really well," said Barroqueiro. "We wanted to get her into the game and get her some experience. Lauren is the backbone of this team and she has been for a long time. But, I'm glad that Mia was able to get some experience in, as she has a bright future ahead of her."
The Tigers edged the Blue Hens in shots 16 to 8.
The Blue Hens do not have a game this Thursday and instead will return to the field on Sunday, Sept. 26 to open Colonial Athletic Association play against Northeastern at home. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
