Blue Hens Finish Fifth at Season-Opening Turning Stone Intercollegiate

VERONA, N.Y. – The University of Delaware men's golf team finished in fifth place while Roberto Nieves tied for third among individuals as the Blue Hens opened their fall season this weekend at the Turning Stone Intercollegiate.
Delaware, which carded 290 and 297 team rounds on Sunday, posted a 298 on Monday to finish fifth out of 15 squads with an 885 total. Tournament host Missouri captured the team title with an 847 score, while LSU finished two shots back.
After firing rounds of 69 and 68 during Sunday's play, Nieves carded a 73 on Monday on the par 72, 6,803-yard Kaluhyat Course at Turning Stone Resort, tying for third place with a six under par 210.
Michal Bargenda recorded the lowest round by a Blue Hen on Monday with an even par 72, as he tied for 20th place with a four over par 72-76-220.
Sparky Ariyachatvakin tied for 34th place with a 10 over par 71-77-78-226, while Hugo Kedzlie (79-76-75-230) and Xiong Da (76-73-81-230) each tied for 50th place at 14 over par.
Owen Manchester carded a 15 over par 80-75-76-231 to finish in 54th place, while Egor Zubov tied for 69th place with a 24 over par 78-84-78-340.
The Blue Hens return to action at the Golfweek Program Challenge in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Sept. 12-14.
