Men's Soccer Defeated By Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Delaware's men's soccer team fell to Hofstra, 3-1, on Saturday in a CAA matchup. Orri Thorhallsson scored his sixth goal in his 10th career game, while Adam Vik recorded a career high in saves with eight.
Vik made a couple of saves early on to stop an aggressive Hofstra (5-3-1, 3-1-1) offense, but the Pride's Elliot Goldthorp scored in the 13th minute and 17th minute to take a 2-0 lead. Hofstra's offense didn't let up, but Vik was able to prevent any further damage and finished the first half with five saves.
Thorhallsson scored Delaware's (2-6-2, 0-4-1) first goal in the 54th minute on an assist from Petros Fokas. The goal was Thorhallsson's third of his career and the first of his sophomore season. He also scored in his collegiate debut on August 30, 2021 against Seton Hall and Oct. 16, 2021 against Charleston. Fokas also recorded his first assist of his collegiate career. Delaware's Ryan Carmichael added Hofstra's final goal in the 60th minute of action.
Delaware is back home to begin a four-game homestand starting on Oct. 8 when they take on Drexel at 4:00 p.m.
