Men’s Basketball to Take Part in the Cathedral Classic

PHILADELPHIA – Delaware men's basketball (1-2) has three games on its Thanksgiving plate as the team is set to participate in the Cathedral Classic from Nov. 25-27, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania at The Palestra.

SCOUTING DELAWARE:
- Delaware returns to action following the Thanksgiving holiday at the Cathedral Classic in the famous Palestra.
- Through three games, the Blue Hens are averaging 69 points per game, with a pair of players averaging over 15 points per game.
- Delaware is among the nation's best in shot blocks this season. Collectively, the team is pacing the CAA with 6.0 blocks per game, which ranks 16th nationally.
- Jyáre Davis paced the Blue Hens in scoring against Duke, scoring 11 in the loss. He is currently averaging 15.3 points per game.
- Jameer Nelson Jr. also reached double-digits at Duke, scoring 10 in 25 minutes. Nelson Jr. also dished three assists in the game. The point guard is also scoring 15.3 per contest through three games.
- Cavan Reilly impressed off the bench against Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium, scoring a career-high 10 points and sinking a pair of three-pointers. He is currently scoring an average of 9.5 points in his rookie campaign.
- La Salle transfer Christian Ray is leading UD in rebounding with 10.0 per game this season. He grabbed six against Duke following consecutive double-digit performances.
- Colgate enters at 4-2 after an 85-66 handling of Delaware's CAA foe Monmouth.
- Senior Tucker Richardson is one of four double-digit scorers on the Raiders' roster, averaging 18.5 through six games. He scored 15 against Monmouth.
- Ryan Moffatt paced the Raiders in scoring against Monmouth, dropping 16 on 6-of-12 shooting. He is scoring an average of 14.5 points through the team's first six games.
- Keegan Records is shooting at a .619 clip this season. He is the leading rebounder for the Raiders, grabbing an average of 6.8 while also scoring 11.5 points per game.
- These two teams will play at a neutral site for the first time since 1985.
- Hartford enters at 3-3 after an 82-45 rout of FDU-Florham on Tuesday night.
- Junior Briggs McClain is one of two double-digit scorers on the Hawks' roster, averaging 19.0 through six games. He did not play against FDU-Florham, but has scored 20 or more in three games this season.
- Pano Pavlidis is having a solid presence on the floor through the team's first six games, scoring 10.3 points and leading the team with 7.7 rebounds per game.
- Both Christian Ray and Jared Kimbrough of Hartford played together at La Salle from 2019-21. Kimbrough is second on the Hawks in rebounding, averaging 5.2 per game.
- Hartford assistant coach Jeff Rafferty was on the coaching staff at Delaware from 2007-16. He spent 2013-16 as an associate head coach.
- Penn hosts the Cathedral Classic, beginning the tournament at 2-4 on the season after beating Lafayette 74-68 in overtime on Tuesday night.
- Junior Jordan Dingle has been a bright spot for the Quakers this season, averaging over 20 points per game (20.2) this season, scoring 22 against the Leopards.
- Clark Slajchert only scored six points against Lafayette, but still has had a great start to this season. He is the only other double-digit scorer on the roster, scoring at a clip of 14.4 points per game through six contests.
- Max Lorca-Lloyd is averaging exactly six rebounds per game.
- Delaware will play Penn at the Palestra for the first time since 2011.
- Delaware has never lost to Colgate. The Blue Hens have won all four meetings in program history.
- The two teams last met in 1999-00 when Delaware beat the Raiders 65-56 at the Bob Carpenter Center on 12/2/99.
- Delaware and Hartford, who used to be conference opponents as members of the North Atlantic Conference (now America East), played quite frequently in their history, with Delaware holding the edge at 16-8.
- However, these two teams have not matched up since 2001, with Delaware dismantling the Hawks 98-72 at the Bob Carpenter Center on 2/24/01.
- Penn has had the upper hand on Delaware in their 24 meetings, as the Blue Hens are 6-18 against the Quakers. The Hens have also had little success at The Palestra, going 1-14 in 15 games at the arena.
- Delaware won handily in its last meeting in 2012, beating the Quakers 83-60 at the Bob Carpenter Center on 12/21/12.
