Men Earn Two Bronze Medals, Set Two Program Records

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. - The Delaware men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned four medals and set four program records on the second day of the CAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
In the morning swimming trials, Natalie Dobrzykowski qualified for the 500 Free B finals with a time of 5:01.19. She went on to place third in the B final with a time of 4:58.64.
Freshman Gavin Currie clocked in the second-fastest time of the day in the 500 Free prelims with a time of 4:28.66 to advance to the A Finals. Andrew Taylor and Bryce Ciecko joined Currie in the A Finals. When the time came, it was Taylor who stood on the podium in the finals with a bronze medal, touching the wall in 4:27.50.
Mira Selling was crowned 200 IM champion after setting a school record with a time of 2:00.60. Earlier that morning she placed first in the trials as well with a time of 2:03.17. Aislinn Mitchell qualified for the A Final as well, placing fourth in 2:03.78.
Freshman Tonislav Sabev set a school record in the men's 200 IM with a time of 1:48.35, placing fifth in the A finals. He broke the school record earlier in the day as well, with his qualifying time of 1:49.12. Jack Hattery (1:51.58), Evan Frick (1:52.08) and Jeb Darhower (1:53.30) all competed in the B finals.
In women's 3-meter diving, Julia Servas was the lone Blue Hen to advance to the finals after finishing prelims with a score of 254.15. She was just two points shy of standing on the podium, earning a fourth-place finish and a score of 273.55 in the finals. Jordan Campbell (232.75) placed third in the B finals and Ella Drazek (219.40) placed sixth on the 3-meter board.
The Blue Hens closed out the second day of the championship with two bronze medals and two more program records. The women's 400 Medley Relay team of Cristin Earley, Andromachi Tasakou, Mitchell and Selling took third place with a program record of 3:41.69. On the men's side, Currie, Toni Sabev, Simeon Sabev and Luke Rautzhan set the program record with a time of 3:12.10, earning a third-place finish.
The men's squad is currently fourth with 208 points, while the women are in fifth place with 159 points.
Tomorrow swimming trials begin at 10 a.m., followed by men's 3-meter diving prelims at 12:30 p.m. Timed finals begin at 6 p.m.
