Blue Hens in Third Place After First Day of Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Delaware men's golf team recorded a 280 score during Sunday's opening round of the Loyola Intercollegiate to end the day in third place out of 18 squads.

Utah Valley leads the field with a 274 score, followed by Middle Tennessee State at 277 and the Blue Hens.

Sparky Ariyachatvakin carded a five under par 67 during his first round on the par 72, 7,015-yard Palm Valley Golf Club course and is tied for fourth place among individuals. Ariyachatvakin recorded eight birdies on the day, including four in a row from the 13th through 16th holes.

Three players are tied for the lead at six under par, while Ariyachatvakin and Missouri State's Carter Lee are each one shot back.

Roberto Nieves, who fired three birdies and posted an eagle on the second hole, is tied for sixth place with a four under par 68. Egor Zubov, playing as an individual, recorded six birdies on Sunday and is tied for 15th place with a two under par 70.

Owen Manchester is tied for 34th place with an even par 72, Hugo Kedzlie is tied for 49th place with a one over par 73, and Michal Bargenda is tied for 73rd place with a three over par 73.

The second round of the three-day tournament will begin at 7:45 a.m. MT on Monday.
