Maxwell Costes singled home the first run for Maryland, while Troy Schreffler added a two-run homer in the frame. The Blue Hens got on the board in the top of the third when Jake Dunion reached on a fielder's choice to drive home Bryce Greenly, but the Terps added single runs in the third and fourth innings to make it a 6-1 game.
After Nick Vera and Dominic Ragazzo singled in the top of the fifth, both runners came around to score when Joey Loynd ripped a single to left to cut the deficit to three. However Maryland's Jacob Orr delivered a two-run double before another run scored on a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh.
