TOWSON, Md. – Blue Hen pitchers Chris Ludman and Mike Biasiello combined to allow just one unearned run on four hits as Delaware took the series opener from Towson, 4-1, Friday afternoon at Schuerholz Park.
The Tigers scored their only run of the day in the bottom of the first with the help of two UD errors, but Ludman fired six consecutive scoreless frames from there. He earned his third win of the year after scattering four hits and striking out three in the impressive outing. Biasiello then notched his league-leading fifth save with a pair of hitless frames, striking out four including all three batters in the bottom of the ninth.
The Blue Hens pulled even in the top of the fourth when Joseph Carpenter singled up the middle, moved to second on a walk to Jake Dunion, and scored on a two-out single to center by Joey Loynd.
Delaware then added three runs in the fifth to take the lead for good. After UD loaded the bases when Jordan Hutchins singled, Dominic Ragazzo reached on a walk and Bryce Greenly legged out a bunt single, JJ Freeman worked a walk to force home Hutchins. Carpenter then followed with a two-run double to right, driving home Ragazzo and Greenly with the final runs of the day.
Greenly, Carpenter and Nick Vera each finished with two hits on the day for the Blue Hens, who won their third straight game.

"We got great pitching from our ace Chris Ludman, who went seven innings while giving up only four hits. Mike Biasiello then closed out the last two innings, striking out four and getting the save. That's textbook pitching right there! We also got a big bases loaded double from Joseph Carpenter."
