NEWARK, Del. – Delaware scored in all six innings and shut out Saint Peter's for the second consecutive day as the Blue Hens completed the weekend sweep with a 14-0 victory Sunday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium.
The win, the Blue Hens' ninth in a row, was the 600th for head coach Jim Sherman during his 22-year tenure at Delaware.
Joseph Carpenter finished 3 for 4 at the plate with a homer, two triples and three RBI, while five players added two hits on the day. Bryce Greenly, who added with two hits and a pair of RBI, extended his hitting streak to 15 games. Delaware pound out 15 hits, while its five triples are a program record.
Dominic Ragazzo led off the bottom of the first with a triple and immediately scored on a groundout by Greenly, and after Joey Loynd scored on a Peacocks error in the second, Greenly followed with an RBI single to make it a 3-0 game.
Jake Dunion singled home Carpenter in the third before Loynd added a two-run double to increase the margin to six. Carpenter blasted a two-run homer in the fourth, his second two-run shot in as many days, while Nick Vera scored on a wild pitch.
JJ Freeman, Carpenter and Dunion each recorded RBI triples in the fifth, while Aidan Kane added a sacrifice fly for the Blue Hens' 13th run of the day. Vera then capped the scoring by crushing an opposite homer in the sixth. After the Peacocks went scoreless in the seventh, the game was called due to the mercy rule.
UD starter Wyatt Nelson scattered four hits and did not walk a batter while striking out six in six scoreless frames to earn his second win of the year. Delaware has posted consecutive shutouts for the first time since blanking Penn State on Mar. 18-19, 2017.

"I'm really proud of the pitching staff all weekend. We just had a bump in the road during the third inning of the first game, but other than that it was an outstanding series. Coach Prachniak is doing a great job getting the pitching staff turned around, and I'm really proud of him and the staff. Offensively we're going on all cylinders right now, so that was just a good weekend. We've got to keep it rolling against Saint Joseph's on Tuesday before travelling to Hofstra for a big seriesGallery: (4-10-2022) Baseball vs. Saint Peters
