MERION STATION, Pa. – Delaware had its nine-game winning streak snapped as the Blue Hens dropped a 13-9 slugfest to Saint Joseph's Tuesday afternoon at Smithson Field.

Delaware scored twice in the top of the first, as Dominic Ragazzo led off the game with a triple and scored on a Bryce Greenly groundout before Joseph Carpenter launched his third homer in as many games. However the Hawks got a run back in the bottom half before adding four in the second to take a 5-2 lead.

Ragazzo again led off the third with a triple and immediately scored on a wild pitch, but SJU's Jake Artz delivered an RBI single in the fourth to put the Hawks back up three.

The Blue Hens pulled even during the top of the fifth when Greenly scored on a passed ball before Aidan Kane ripped a two-run double to make it a 6-6 game. But Saint Joseph's would answer right back in the bottom of the frame by pushing across six runs, highlighted by a three-run double by Andrew Cossetti.

Ragazzo scored on a wild pitch while JJ Freeman drove home Greenly with a sacrifice fly to cut the Blue Hens' deficit to 12-8 in the top of the sixth, but the Hawks scored an unearned run in the bottom half to go back up five.

Greenly singled home John Weglarz in the top of the eighth, but Delaware would not get closer.

Ragazzo finished 3 for 5 with three runs scored, while Greenly also went 3 for 5 and extended his hitting streak to 16 games.

The Blue Hens return to CAA action this weekend with a three-game series at Hofstra.
