Roberto Nieves Caps Blue Hen Career at NCAA New Haven Regional

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – University of Delaware senior Roberto Nieves capped his outstanding Blue Hen career by finishing in 64th place this week at the NCAA New Haven Regional.

Nieves carded a six over par 76 during Wednesday's final round on the par 70, 6,409-yard Yale Golf Course, finishing with a 13 over par 77-70-76=223.

Nieves, the fourth Blue Hen to compete in an NCAA Regional in program history, recorded his lone birdie of the day on the 16th hole and also added 11 pars.

Nieves broke his own program record by averaging 70.58 shots per round this season, and now holds the three lowest single season average rounds in Blue Hen history. He is also the school's record holder with a 71.71 career average round.

Wake Forest finished in first place at the regional with an 814 score and advances to the NCAA Championship along with North Carolina, Texas Tech, North Florida and Georgia Southern.
