Men’s Lacrosse Welcomes 2023 Newcomers

NEWARK, Del. – Delaware head men's lacrosse coach Ben DeLuca officially welcomed the newcomers for the 2023 season.
"Our coaching staff is excited to welcome these young men to the University of Delaware's Class of 2026," said DeLuca. "We believe this group addresses key areas of need for our program while enhancing the toughness, athleticism, and skill of our team. Off of the field, they each bring strong character, a competitive edge, and a relentless work ethic. We are thrilled to officially welcome these young men and their families to the Fightin' Blue Hens Lacrosse program."
The 10-member class which includes nine freshmen and one transfer features recruits from Indiana, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
2023 Newcomers
Franky Fix | Midfield | 6-2 | Doylestown, Pa. l La Salle College HS
Fix competed for La Salle College High School all four years on varsity and was a two-year starter. He helped his team win the 2019 PIAA State Championship. He was named First Team All-PCL during his junior and senior years, while he was also a member of the National Honor Society.
Luke Galgano I Midfield I 6-1 I Bethpage, N.Y. I Bethpage HS
Galgano competed all four years on varsity for Bethpage High School. He also competed in football and basketball every year and was a three-year starter. He helped lead his team to the Nassau County semifinals. He served as the team captain in all three sports as a senior. He earned All-County honors twice in lacrosse and All-Conference honors in football and basketball. Also, competed for a ranked True Blue Lacrosse Club. In the classroom, Galgano earned National Honor Society accolades and was on the Gold Honor Roll throughout high school, as he received All-Academic County honors.
Brendan Powers I Midfield I 5-11 I Skaneateles, N.Y. I Avon Old Farms School
Powers competed for Avon Old Farm School, where he served as the team captain his senior year. While playing lacrosse, he was also an NYS Champion in hockey and soccer. He played club ball for the Sweetlax Nationals. In the classroom, Powers was named to the Honor Roll and made the Head Master's List. Brendan is the son of UD alum Randy Powers, one of the top players in the UD record books.
Josh Knapp I Defense I 6-2 I Fairport, N.Y. I Fairport HS
Knapp competed every year at Fairport in lacrosse, and as a long-stick midfielder/defender, he helped lead his team to a 15-5 overall record and a Section V Championship. Josh was the team captain during his senior season. He also played four years of basketball and two years of football. He earned First Team All-County honors twice and received All-Greater Rochester Honorable Mention nods. He was also named to the Honor Roll throughout his four years at Fairport.
OJ Morris I Faceoff I 5-10 I Dublin, Ohio I Dublin Coffman I Seton Hill University
Morris arrives at UD after being at Seton Hill for one year. Before Seton Hill, Morris played high school lacrosse at Dublin Coffman. He was a starter, a three-year letter winner, and a team captain his senior year. He set the high school national record for most faceoff wins in a game (32) and a season (432), as he helped the team become 2019 state champions. He was named the 2021 OCC Player of the Year, 2021 First Team All-Region selection, 2021 First Team All-State selection, and 2021 All-American. He also competed for three years in football, where he was a two-time All-Conference honoree. In the classroom, Morris was named a Conference Scholar-Athlete and earned Honor Roll distinction.
Patrick Gillin I Defense I 6-1 I Wayne, Pa. I The Haverford School
Gillin was a team captain, four-year letter winner, and a two-year starter at The Haverford School. He also competed in soccer. Gillin earned All Inter-Ac (2022), All Delco (2022), and All-Main Line (2022) honors, and was the recipient of the Peter R. Unger Award (2022). He competed for the Mesa Lacrosse Club.
Finn Morgan I Midfield I 5-10 I Haddonfield, N.J. I Haddonfield Memorial High School
Morgan competed at Haddonfield Memorial High School and was a four-year starter for the lacrosse program. The two-time team captain helped lead Haddonfield to the NJ Sectional Championship. He was a two-time First Team All-Conference, Third Team All-State, two-time US All-American, two-time NJ Nike Team, and three-time UA Underclass Team honoree. He was also a two-year starter in soccer and played one year of football. He competed for the Southshore Lacrosse club team.
Troon Houlton I Midfield I 6-0 I Newburgh, Ind. I Castle High School
Houlton competed for Castle High School. He was a two-time team captain and a varsity starter for four years at midfield. He set a new school record for career points as he earned two-time All-State honors. He also competed in football for three years and soccer for a year. In the classroom, he earned Honor Roll for four years and received national honor society accolades.
Rowan Marsell I Midfield I 6-1 I Philadelphia, N.Y. I Indian River High School
Marsell competed at Indian River High School. He was a four-year varsity lacrosse starter at midfield and a captain his senior year. He was also a three-year varsity football starter and two-time captain for the Section Champions and Regional Champions with a total team record of 29-5 over four years. He earned All-CNY honors as a senior. He competed for the Orange Crush Lacrosse club. In the classroom, Marsell earned Honor Roll, National Honor Society, and Scholar-Athlete honors. He competed on the varsity swim team in the 50 free and 100 free. He excelled in Indoor Track and Field, where he competed for two years and became the section high jump champion while placing third in the 55-meter dash. For football, he earned All-State honors.
Michael Straub I Faceoff I 6-2 I Downingtown, Pa. I Downingtown STEM Academy
Strub competed for Downingtown STEM Academy. He was a four-year varsity lacrosse starter and helped the team to 16 wins and 2 losses his senior year. He was a two-time team MVP, two-time First Team All-Chesmont, two-time First Team All-Area, Daily Local News, and Chesmont Leauge MVP. He was named the Daily Local News All-Area Player of the Year. He played for 10 years with the Freedom Lacrosse Club. He earned National Honor Society and High Honor Roll honors.
