Field Hockey Opens Road Schedule with American and Monmouth

NEWARK, Del. – No. 17 Delaware field hockey (1-1) opens its road schedule this weekend with trips to American (1-1) and Monmouth (1-1). Both games start at 1 p.m. and will be streamed nationally.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- The Blue Hens defeated VCU, 2-0, on Friday and dropped their Sunday contest to no. 12 Virginia, 4-1.
- Freshman Lia Becker scored her first collegiate goal against Virginia on Sunday. Becker is the first freshman to record a point for Delaware this season and is currently tied with Berber Bakermans and Ella Kaufman for the team lead with two points.
- Goalkeeper Lizzie Gaebel boasts a .714 save percentage and a 2.67 mark through two games.
- Friday marks Delaware's ninth all-time meeting against American. The Blue Hens are undefeated against the Eagles in their eight previous meetings and will be traveling to Washington, D.C. for the first time since 2016.
- Sunday is Delaware's ninth all-time meeting against Monmouth and the first time the two teams will face off as members of the same conference. The Blue Hens are 4-4 against the Hawks in their eight previous meetings but have not won against Monmouth since 2012.
