NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team will begin CAA conference play on the road against Charleston on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

What You Need to Know:
- Delaware opened its season with a 2-0 win over Mount St. Mary's on Thursday, August 25, giving head coach Tommy McMenemy his first career victory.
- Seidu Shamsudeen and Sam Donnellan both scored goals for the Blue Hens, while Carlos Fernandez and Florian Phlepsen each recorded an assist.
- Adam Vik made two saves while recording a clean sheet in his Blue Hen debut.
- Delaware fell to Loyola, 3-0, on Monday, August 29. Vik recorded three saves in the match.
- The Blue Hens are 5-1-3 all time against Charleston, including 1-0-3 on the road. Orri Thorhallsson,Brandon Sengphachanh, and former Blue Hen Tiago Santos all scored goals for Delaware in the program's last matchup against the Cougars.
The Opponent:
- Charleston is 0-1-1 so far on the season, losing to UAB on August 26 before playing Memphis to a 1-1 draw on August 28.
- Freshman Chris Elliot has scored the lone goal for the Cougars and Olly Marshall has made four saves in goal through the first two games.
- Keith Wiggans is entering his third season as head coach. He was a two-time member of the SoCon All-Tournament and All-Conference Teams as well as a two-time NSCAA All-South Region Second Team selection. He also holds the school record for career goals against average (0.99), wins (41), shutouts (23) and saves (269).
