Women’s Basketball Volunteers At Boys & Girls Club of Newark

NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware women's basketball team shifted their focus from the court to the Newark community in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s life and national day of service.
Head coach Sarah Jenkins took her Blue Hens over to the Boys & Girls Club of Newark on Wednesday, Jan. 18 to volunteer their time teaching basketball drills and providing mentorship to 90+ kids.
"We are constantly looking for opportunities for our players and staff to give back to our community," said Jenkins. "There is no better time than when we commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King. Giving back helps us to serve our purpose by pouring into lives of youth. We take great pride in being role models for the young boys and girls who look to up to us every day. We had a great time teaching a sport that we love, but most importantly we hope that we made an impact that will last a lifetime."
