Track & Field Competes At Bison Open & Multi

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The University of Delaware track & field team headed to Pennsylvania with the goal of taking the state by storm. The Blue Hens split their squad and competed at the two-day meet of Bison Open & Multi, hosted by Bucknell University inside Gerhard Fieldhouse in Lewisburg, Pa. this past weekend (Jan. 27-28). A weekend filled with setting eight personal best times and improving on three season-best times, Aja Davis stole the show by setting a personal-best and new program record in the 60m dash.
The rookie Taylor Johnson continues to shine as she ran a personal-best time 7.79 (third place) in the prelims and then a 7.84 that placed her in third of the 60m finals. Behind her was Kamylin Padgham, who ran a 8.14 (eighth place) in the preliminaries and then a 8.07 for sixth place in the finals. Both Johnson (third place) and Padgham (14th place) raced in the 200m and finished with times of 25.54 and 26.47 (season-best), respectively.
Destiny DeBlock and Mayson Light headlined the 800m and crossed the finish line with times of 2:34.61 (18th place) and 2:36.84 (23rd place), respectively. DeBlock also competed in the 60m hurdles where she ran a season-best 9.55 (seventh place) in the prelims to qualify for the the finals. She finished in eighth place in the finals with a time of 9.63. Light (19th) and Samantha Uy (22nd) also ran in the 60m hurdles prelims and crossed the finish line with times of 10.41 (season-best) and 10.52 (personal-best), respectively. DeBlock and Light found themselves competing in the long jump, setting marks of 5.04 (16' 6.5") to place ninth and a personal-best mark of 5.01m (16' 5.25") to place 11th respectively.
Marissa Dailey won the mile for the first time in her career with a personal-best time of 5:13.34 and behind her was Lindsey Volkman in third place with a personal-best time of 5:15.06.
Katie Hally, Stephanie Herrera and Jessica Stratton showed out for the Blue Hens in the 3000m. Hally was the first Blue Hen to cross with a personal-best time of 10:43.37 (fifth place), Herrera was second with a personal-best time of 10:50.34 (eighth) and Stratton finished in 11:10.02, good enough for 11th place.
Uy competed in the high jump and leaped for a personal-best mark of 1.55m (5' 1"), which was good enough for fifth place. In the pole vault, Bridget Joyce and Meredith Krieger both finished in sixth place with a mark of 3.36 (11' 0.25").
Jahnia Hodge won the triple jump for the first time in her career, leaping for a personal-best mark of 11.51m (37' 9.25"), a mark that sits fifth in the UD history books while Emily Eckard threw the weight for a mark of 14.69m (48' 2.5") which was good enough for fourth place.

The Blue Hens will return to action opening February's slate of meets at the two-day Rutgers Invitational Feb. 3-4 inside the Armory Track & Field Center in New York.
