Dezerea Bryant Joins Delaware Track & Field Staff

Bryant comes to Newark after an illustrious career competing at the highest levels. Bryant has been a dedicated professional athlete since 2016, representing the United States in numerous international track and field competitions, including the World Championships in 2015 & 2019. With the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash being her disciplines, most recently, Bryant saw action at the London Athletics Meet on Jul. 23, where she was part of the 4x100m relay team that clocked a time of 42.47. She ran the 100m in 11.52 on Jul. 22 at the Meeting Madrid and ran the 200m in 23.23 at Gyulai István Memorial on Jul. 18.I am grateful and extremely excited for the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing program," said Bryant. In 2019, Bryant achieved extraordinary success, earning the title of USA Track & Field 200-meter dash champion. At the World Championships in Doha, she secured a bronze medal in the 4x100m relay and an admirable fifth-place finish in the 200m. Her remarkable talents propelled her to the fifth rank globally in 2019 and the 11th rank in 2021. Bryant also earned the distinction of being a finalist in the USA Olympic trials for the 200m in 2021.
Before embarking on her professional journey, Bryant served as a volunteer assistant coach for two seasons (2015-17) with the University of Tennessee track & field program. During this tenure, she collaborated closely with Tim Hall, focusing on the sprints and relays event group.As the sun rises on a new era of speed, we welcome Dez as our new track and field assistant overseeing sprints/jumps with open arms," said Iyevbele" "Her passion, knowledge, and dedication will undoubtedly propel the athletes to greater achievements, and together, we'll write a chapter of triumph and record-breaking moments on the track. With this new addition, our team is destined for a future filled with sprinting/jumping brilliance.
Bryant boasts an impressive collegiate career, having excelled at both Clemson University and the University of Kentucky's track & field programs. Her collegiate journey was marked by an impressive 17 All-American honors and a collegiate record in the 200m with a blazing time of 22.18.
Her collegiate career began at Clemson, where she amassed nine All-American accolades and ten All-ACC distinctions in her freshman and sophomore years. She claimed an impressive nine ACC Championships across indoor and outdoor events, competing in the 60m and 200m indoors and the 100m, 200m, and 400m outdoors. Later at Kentucky, Bryant secured eight All-American honors and was recognized as a 14-time All-SEC performer. She clinched the 2014 SEC Indoor championship in the 60m with a remarkable time of 7.16. In her final collegiate race, she achieved a triumphant victory in the 200m NCAA National Championship, recording an astonishing time of 22.18. Bryant was inducted into Kentucky's Hall of Fame in 2022. On the international stage, Bryant earned gold medals at the 2010 and 2012 World Junior Championships as a member of the 4x100m relay team.Â
Bryant, a native of Milwaukee, Wis., earned her Bachelor's Degree in Community Leadership in 2015.
