Men's Soccer Drops Home Matchup Against the Patriots

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team put up a fight but came up short in a 3-1 matchup against George Mason Tuesday night.
The Blue Hens now have an overall record of 8-3-5 with one game remaining in the regular season.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Jan Schroeder recorded a goal.
- Carlos Fernandez tallied an assist.
- Adam Vik recorded a save.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- George Mason came out firing and took a 2-0 lead into the half after goals were scored in the 20th and 35th minutes by Souley Diouf and Luis Maestre, respectively.
- Delaware answered in the 64th minute when Fernandez crossed the ball to the feet of Schroeder, who dribbled into open space and laid a shot to the bottom left corner of the net.
- The Patriots answered just a minute later off a goal by Javi Sanchez that made it a 3-1 game.
- Despite the Hens' best efforts, the team was unable to come back from the two-goal deficit.
GAME NOTES
- Schroeder recorded his first career goal.
UP NEXT
Delaware returns to action on Saturday afternoon with a big conference matchup against Charleston.
