NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware volleyball won their 10th consecutive match in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-15) sweep over North Carolina A&T. Delaware clinched a spot in the CAA Tournament with the win and remain in sole possession of second place in the conference standings, trailing Towson by just one game.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Lani Mason had a game-high 14 kills and .600 hitting percentage to go with three aces and eight digs.
Madelyn Grunza recorded eight kills and hit .438.
Ezgi Basaranlar had 34 assists, two blocks, and six digs.
Gha'Naye Whitfield-Moss had eight kills and hit .429.
Kirah Johnson recorded five kills and hit .400.
Savannah Seemans recorded seven kills and eight digs.
Amelia Painter had six digs.
Eileen Gex had five digs.
As a team, Delaware had a .405 hitting percentage and held N.C. A&T to a .114 hitting percentage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST SET

Delaware used a 4-0 run to tie the opening set at 7-7 after going down early. With the Aggies up 10-9, Delaware scored five of the next six points to take the lead and begin to create separation.
Kills by Whitfield-Moss, Grunza, and Johnson and an ace by Gex helped Delaware go up 20-16. Mason and Whitfield-Moss closed out the set with back-to-back kills to give Delaware a 1-0 advantage.
Mason had four kills in the first set and Basaranlar had 10 assists.

SECOND SET

N.C. A&T again took an early lead at 9-5, but Delaware scored six of the next seven on kills by Grunza, Seemans, and Mason and a block by Basaranlar and Johnson to go up 11-10.
Six straight points by the Blue Hens gave them an 18-12 lead. Grunza and Whitfield-Moss recorded a block to give Delaware a nine-point lead before Johnson finished off the set with a kill.
Delaware as a team hit .609 in the second, with Mason picking up five more kills. Basaranlar had 13 assists.

THIRD SET

After N.C. A&T cut Delaware's lead to 10-9, two 3-0 runs brought the momentum back and they took a 16-10 lead. Whitfield-Moss had two kills during the runs and Grunza and Mason each recorded one.
Delaware closed the set by scoring seven of the final eight points to finish off the sweep. Mason had back-to-back kills to close out the set, while Seemans had two, Johnson had one, and Painter recorded an ace.
Delaware hit .367 in the closing set. Mason had five kills, Grunza and Whitfield-Moss had three, and Basaranlar had 11 assists.

GAME NOTES

Mason's .600 hitting percentage was a new single-match career-high. She now has 1,442 career kills.
Basaranlar upped her career assist total to 3,684.
Delaware's .405 hitting percentage was their best in a single-game since having .405 against William & Mary on Nov. 14, 2021.
Delaware's 10 consecutive wins and 10 consecutive wins against CAA opponents is their longest since winning 14 straight from Oct. 3-Nov. 21, 2010.
