Albamonti Tabbed As CAA Co-Field Athlete of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Delaware track & field senior thrower Megan Albamonti was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Field Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday morning by league officials. This is the second-time in consecutive weeks Albamonti has received the top honors and shares this week's award with Charleston's senior pole vaulter Luzy Lieger.
Albamonti opened day one at Raleigh Relays (Mar. 23-25) and showed why she is a force to be reckoned with. The Westerly, R.I. native threw the javelin 52.84m in her first attempt, which was good enough to advance to the finals. Albamonti's sixth and final throw flew through the air for a new season-best mark of 55.33m, earning her a second-place finish in the event.
Albamonti's mark leads the CAA and Mid-Atlantic Region while ranking second in the NCAA East Region and fifth in the NCAA.
