NEWARK, Del. - Lizzie Yurchak of Delaware's women's lacrosse team has been selected as Co-Offensive National Player of the Week , as announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced on Tuesday. Yurchak shares the honor with Erin Coykendall of Northwestern.
Yurchak scored a career-high and game-best six goals against Monmouth, also earning her CAA Player of the Week. She helped lead a comeback that saw Delaware turn a 10-5 deficit in the second half into a 13-12 win in overtime, Delaware's largest comeback since March 13, 2019. The six goals scored were the most by a Delaware player since Sydney Rausa had six against Drexel on April 19, 2019. She scored five of her goals during the second half, including the game's final four goals. Yurchak tied the game with 14 seconds remaining, and won it 30 seconds into overtime with her final goal. The game-winner was also her 50th career goal. Additionally, Yurchak became the first Delaware player to win CAA Player of the Week since Mia DeRuggiero was Co-Player of the Week on April 29, 2019, and the first outright winner since Caroline Farley on April 1, 2019.
Yurchak came to Delaware last year after spending her freshman season at Campbell, where she was an All-Big South First-Team selection. She scored 14 goals and dished out seven assists last year, while also recording 21 ground balls, 13 caused turnovers, and 26 draw controls. This season, she is second on the team in points with 19, scoring 15 goals and handing out four assists in 10 games. She also has scooped up 21 ground balls, caused 12 turnovers, and recorded 19 draw controls. She has recorded eight multi-goal games over the last two seasons. Yurchak joins Meaghan Tyrrell (Syracuse, Feb. 14, Feb. 21), Izzy Scane (Northwestern, Feb. 21, March 21), Libby May (Maryland, Feb. 28), Sydney Pappas (Villanova, Feb. 28), Julia Gilbert (Denver, March 6), Jenna Collignon (Yale, March 6), Annabel Frist (Stanford, March 14), Emma Ward (Syracuse, March 14), Gretchen Gilmore (Penn State, March 21).
