NEWARK, Del. – Delaware women's basketball head coach Sarah Jenkins has announced hiring alum and 2022 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) champion Paris McBride ahead of the 2023-24 season. McBride will serve in the capacity of Director of Video & Analytics/Player Development, effective July 1.
McBride returns to Newark after spending a season at Jacksonville University (2022-23) serving under Darnell Haney in the role of Director of Player Development & Video/Media. McBride assisted in the development of one All-ASUN honoree during her brief tenure in Florida.
The Woodbridge, Va. native has been a four-year member of Delaware's women's basketball program and has been team captain for three seasons. McBride was dubbed the floor general and helped lead the Blue Hens to its third CAA title and make an NCAA Tournament appearance for the first time since the 2013 season. She closed out her career totaling 552 points, 307 assists, 199 rebounds and 137 steals in 110 games played for the Blue & Gold. McBride's 307 total assists are currently tied for sixth place (Tyresa Smith, 2003-07) in the program's history books.
Off the court, McBride was very active in the community by serving in Student Athletes Against Social Injustice Task Force, volunteering her time with B+ Foundation/UDANCE, Boys and Girls Club DE Wowzers Program, the Food Bank in Orlando and Miami, Fla., Special Olympics in Delaware and Delaware State Fair.
With the goal of coaching on the sideline, McBride completed the WBCA's "So You Want to Be a Coach" Program during her final year at Delaware and then earned her bachelor's degree in History in 2022.
