DANBURY, Conn. - University of Delaware men's soccer freshman Marius Stenner was selected as the 2024 Eastern College Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year as announced on Monday.
"Our staff, his team and everyone connected with the men's soccer program here at the University of Delaware are extremely proud of Marius for this prestigious award," said head coach Tommy McMenemy. "Marius is a talented, confident and competitive young man and works incredibly hard for every moment of on-field success. Most importantly, he has a team-first mentality, and conducts himself with humility and professionalism in every area of his life; a true Delaware student-athlete. Every individual award is a reflection of the collective, and as such I know Marius is grateful to his teammates' contribution to his recognition."
Stenner's debut season at Delaware was nothing short of spectacular. The Danish freshman accrued 23 points across his 16 games played with the Blue Hens. He finished the season leading the team in points at nine alongside senior Sam Donnellan. His five assists tie him for second with fifth year Justin Ruth right behind sophomore Jan Schroeder. Stenner led the country in game winning goals at five as he closed out the regular season.
The Eastern College Athletic Conference is a regional conference that many northeastern universities join in addition to their primary conference. Delaware is one of 66 Division I members of the conference.
