No. 20 Men's Lacrosse Heads to Va. for Neutral Site Battle With No. 6 Syracuse

NEWARK, Del. – The No. 18/20 University of Delaware men's lacrosse team is set to take on the No. 6/10-ranked Syracuse Orange on Saturday, March 16 at 2 p.m. at Paul VI High School in Chantilly, Va.

ABOUT THE HENS
- Delaware ended its two-game skid on Saturday, March 9 as the Blue Hens defeated Monmouth 16-7 to open CAA action.
- UD improved to 3-2 on the year.
- The Hens reentered the nation's top-20 polls as UD was ranked as high as No. 18 in the USA Lacrosse poll and No. 20 in both the Inside Lacrosse and USILA polls.
- Freshman John McCurry scored a career and team-high five goals in the win over Monmouth, and earned this week's CAA Rookie of the Week.
- Graduate defender Tate Wasson was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week after he tallied a season-high three caused turnovers and extended his caused turnovers streak to three straight games.
- Mike Robinson and JP Ward extended their points streaks to 18 and 42 games, respectively.
- Robinson is ninth in the nation in goals per game at 3.40 and leads the Hens in total goals scored with 17.
- OJ Morris won 15 straight first half faceoffs as he finished the day 17-for-21 (.801 faceoff percentage).
- Senior goalkeeper Kevin Ellington is fourth in goals against average at 8.76 and is 10th in the nation in save percentage at .566.
- Delaware enter's Saturday's contest with the No. 3-ranked scoring defense in the country as the Hens have allowed an average of 8.60 goals per game and only 43 total.
- The UD offense has been exceptional in man-up opportunities as the Blue Hens have scored nine extra man opportunity goals in 15 attempts for a .600 power play percentage.
ABOUT THE ORANGE
- Syracuse enters Saturday's contest as the No. 10-ranked team per USA Lacrosse and No. 6-ranked per the USILA and Inside Lacrosse polls.
- The Orange are 6-2 overall and 1-0 in neutral site games this season.
- Winners of their last two games, the Orange defeated High Point 19-13 on March 2 before upsetting No. 2/4 Johns Hopkins 14-13 on March 9.
- Syracuse's losses are a 13-12 overtime loss to Maryland and a 14-13 OT loss to Army.
- The Orange feature five players with double digit goals scored as Joey Spallina leads the offense with 23 goals and 29 assists.
- Syracuse's offense has scored 130 goals on the year, averaging 16.25 per game while the defense has allowed just 80 goals for a +6.25 scoring margin.
- The Syracuse offense is currently ranked fourth in the nation.
- The Orange are 12-for-31 in man-up opportunities for a .387 power play percentage.
- In goal, WIll Mark has faced 269 shots, making 86 saves and allowing 78 goals for a .524 save percentage and 10.46 goals against average.
SERIES HISTORY
- Saturday's game will be just the third time the Hens and Orange have met, with the last time being back in 1986.
- The Blue Hens are 0-2 all-time against the Orange, falling 14-8 back on March 26, 1986 in Syracuse, N.Y. and 12-6 on March 13, 1985 in Newark.
