HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore Hank D'Ambrogi began the afternoon's scoring as the Delaware native put the Hens on the board first at the 11:43 mark in the first quarter. The Orange retaliated with two straight goals, but back-to-back scores from John McCurry and Fritz put UD back in front 3-2. Seventeen seconds before the end of the first, Finn Thomson found the back of the Hens' net, but thanks to a goal from Cam Acchione a minute prior, Delaware held a one-score lead after the first 15:00 of action.
- In the second, the two squads went back-and-forth with two ties and two lead changes. After Cuse's Owen Hiltz knotted the game at 4-4, Acchione netted his second of the game to give Delaware a 5-4 lead with 11:50 to go before the break. The Hens held their lead for over four minutes, but back-to-back goals from the Orange sent Syracuse into the locker room with a 6-5 lead.
- Following their two goals to end the second, the Orange extended its scoring streak in the third as Syracuse scored four straight in the quarter to take a 10-5 lead.
- In the fourth, Cuse continued its scoring run as the Orange netted their seventh in a row going back to the second quarter. With 10:43 left in regulation, freshman Tyler Owings ended Delaware's dry spell to cut the Syracuse lead to 11-6. A minute later, Cuse's Hiltz began his own streak of three consecutive goals, all but sealing the game for the Orange.
