NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware's Morgan Hess pitched a no-hitter against Hofstra on April 20, 2024 in a 1-0 win and clinched a spot in the CAA Conference Tournament. It's Delaware's 17th no-hitter in program history.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Hess struck out three and allowed just two walks in her no-hit, shutout performance.
Julz Garber went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base.
Boyet drove in the game's only run and went 1-for-2 with a walk.
Katie Scheivert went 1-for-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Hess struck out the leadoff hitter in a perfect first inning.
Garber led off the bottom half of the first with a single, stole second, and came around to score on a single by Boyet.
A walk and error put two runners on with two outs, but Hess escaped a second and third jam by inducing a groundout.
Hess pitched a perfect third inning and allowed just a walk with a strikeout in the fourth. She pitched a 1-2-3 fifth inning, helped out by a diving catch in right field by Anaya Troy.
Hess got two popouts and a groundout in the sixth. She set the side down in order in the seventh to finish off the no-hitter and the win.

GAME NOTES

Hess has now won eight straight games. She also pitched her first shutout of the season and her ninth of her career. It was also her fourth complete game of the season and 29th of her career.
This was Delaware's 10th shutout of the season.
Garber recorded her team-best 16th multi-hit game of the season.

CAA CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

Delaware has clinched a CAA Tournament berth for the third straight season for the first time since 2011-2013. The tournament is scheduled for May 8-11, and will be hosted by UNCW. Tickets can be found here.
