Women's Lacrosse Rally Falls Just Short at Elon, Dropping Final Away Game to Phoenix, 16-15

ELON, NC – The University of Delaware women's lacrosse team fought back against Elon throughout the entire game, however, time would eventually run out, and the Blue Hens fell to the Phoenix in a heartbreaker, 16-15. The Hens are now 9-6 and 2-5 in the CAA.

HENS HIGHLIGHTS

Danielle Livornese scored a hat trick.
Lizzie Hsu, Riley Gillin, Lizzie Yurchak, Callie Drab, and Morgan Gore all scored two goals.
Jaclyn Marszal and Jenna McHale added a goal.
Eight Blue Hens scored.
Delaney McDaniel recorded three assists while Hsu, Gillin, Yurchak, and Marszal notched one each.
Sophia Foohey saved 12 shots.
Madison Hranicka earned her 150-ground ball of her college career.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hens and Phoenix traded off goals in the first quarter while the Phoenix scored the last two, coming out of the first quarter with a 6-4 advantage.
The offensive eruption continued in the second quarter and both teams scored four goals, keeping the Phoenix up two at halftime. Both teams combined for 38 shots in the first 30 minutes.
The Hens scored their one goal in the third quarter 12 minutes in, and the Phoenix added three goals to lead 13-9 going into the final 15 minutes.
The Hens cut the Phoenix advantage to one with 10 minutes and then with just under three minutes left, but the Phoenix were able to keep the game scoreless to close out the game and hold on.
