Rowing Qualifies All Three Boats For Grand Finals During Day One Of CAA Championships

COOPER RIVER, N.J. - University of Delaware's rowing program qualified for all three races of tomorrow's grand final during day one of the CAA Conference Championships. The Blue Hens will race in the Varsity 4, Second Varsity 8, and Varsity 8 finals, as well as the Third Varsity 8.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Varsity 8
- The Varsity 8 was the first boat to compete during the morning for the Blue Hens, placing third in their heat and fifth overall with a time of 7:21.110. Delaware bested Eastern Michigan in their heat and Connecticut and Monmouth overall. They will compete in tomorrow's grand final at 10:30 a.m.
- In the second race of the morning, Delaware competed in the second heat of the Second Varsity 8, placing just behind UC San Diego in their heat at 7:29.111 and fifth overall. The Blue Hens finished ahead of Eastern Michigan and Villanova in their heat and Monmouth overall. Tomorrow's Second Varsity 8 grand final is scheduled for 10:10 a.m.
- The Varsity 4 won their heat in the final race of the day and finished with a time of 8:23.904. Their time was also second best overall between the two heats. In their heat, Eastern Michigan and Delaware remained even for the first quarter of the race with Drexel just behind, but Delaware created separation around midway through. The Blue Hens then pulled away from Drexel late to claim the heat. The Varsity 4 grand final will be at 9:50 a.m. tomorrow.
