Ellington, Ward Named USA Lacrosse All-America Honorable Mention

SPARKS, Md. – The University of Delaware men's lacrosse team garnered two USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America honors as seniors Kevin Ellington and JP Ward were named Honorable Mention, the publication announced Thursday morning.
Ellington made a name for himself in his first year as a starter for the Blue Hens as the Bel Air, Md. native was named the 2024 CAA Defensive Player of the Year and added a First Team CAA selection to his ledger. The senior started all 14 contests between the pipes for the Blue & Gold. He finished the year ranked third in save percentage (.590), sixth in saves per game (13.36) and 10th in goals against average (9.60). He was the only goaltender in the top-10 in all three categories this season. He finished the year with 187 saves and had six games of 15 or more saves with a season-high of 21 against Stony Brook back on April 13.
Ellington became just the second player in program history to earn CAA Defensive Player of the Year. This was the fourth consecutive year the award went to a Blue Hens player as 2023 graduate, Owen Grant, had earned the award each of the previous three seasons.
Ward earned All-America praise for the first time in his career as the three-time First Team All-CAA selection had a stellar 2024 season for the Hens. The Owings Mills, Md. native started all 14 games at attack and surpassed the 50-point threshold for the third year in a row as he tallied 26 goals and a team-leading 33 assists. He became just the third Blue Hens men's lacrosse player to reach both 100 goals and 100 assists for his career. The attackman set a new CAA record for career assists with 112, eclipsing the previous mark of 111 set in 2021. Ward is fourth on Delaware's all-time career-assists list and seventh in points (222).
This is the sixth straight year Delaware has garnered at least one All-America player.
