DALLAS – University of Delaware women's golf freshman Rhianna Gooneratne has been named the Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. It is the first-career weekly honor for Gooneratne, and the second of the season for the Fightin' Blue Hens.
Gooneratne earned runner-up honors with a 1-over par 218, leading Delaware to a win at its home tournament - the Lady Blue Hen Invitational. She recorded her second-straight top-10 finish, and third of the season, carding back-to-back under-par rounds to climb up to second overall. The freshman finished with 13 total birdies over the 54 holes, including six during Saturday's second round when she shot a 3-under par 69. Gooneratne closed the weekend with four more birdies and a 1-under par 71.
Delaware successfully defended its title at the 2025 Lady Blue Hen Invitational, shooting an even-par 288 during the final round to move up from second and pull away for an eight-stroke victory. The Blue Hens carded a three-round score of 11-over par 875, the second-lowest winning team score in the tournament's 12-year history. It is the third time that Delaware has won its home tournament as the Blue Hens also won in 2024 and 2013.
