NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware men's basketball program signed Jafet Valencia to the 2026-27 roster, head coach Martin Ingelsby announced Wednesday. Valencia will join the Blue Hens after spending two years at Evergreen Christian School and on the Durant EYBL AAU Team in Maryland.
Valencia resides in Leesburg, Virginia and is in his senior year at Evergreen Christian. Last season, the 6-7, 200-pound guard averaged 15 points, six assists, five rebounds, and two steals per game while shooting 58% from the field.
Valencia was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador before moving to the United States at the age of 16. Prior to coming to the U.S., he represented Ecuador in the 2022 South American U18 Championship, 2022 FIBA U18 Americas Championship, and the 2023 South America U17 Championship.
"We're excited to officially welcome Jafet to the Blue Hen basketball family," Ingelsby said. "Jafet brings great size, skill, and a feel for the game that fits well with our style of play. His elite basketball IQ and versatility make him a difference-maker on both ends of the floor. Welcome to the 302, Jafet!"
