Baseball Defeats FIU in Extra Innings in Series Finale

MIAMI - University of Delaware baseball team defeated Florida International in the final game of a three-game series on Sunday by a score of 7-6.
With the win, the Blue Hens are 1-5 overall on the season.

Delaware heads to College Park, Md. to face off against Maryland on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 4 p.m. It will be the start of a five-game week for UD.Â

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Delaware produced a season high 18Â hits on the day. It is the most team hits for the Blue Hens since April 9, 2024Â when they defeated Lafayette 22-2.
- Three Blue Hens had three hits on the day: Aaron Graeber (3-for-5, HR, RBI, 2 BB), Evan Boulden (3-for-6, RBI, BB) and Rory Finn (3-for-6). Additionally, Andrew Amato, Aiden Stewart, Brett Lesher and Jackson Tyer each had multiple hits.
- The Blue Hens had six pitchers on the mound: Doug Marose, Evan Lewis, Ben Moyzan, Elias Conway, Dom Velazquez and Jonah Richardson. The six combined to pitch for 12 innings, allowed six earned runs off 10 hits and struck out eight batters.
- Richardson pitched three scoreless innings in extras, allowed one hit and struck out two batters. He earned his first career win as a collegiate athlete.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- FIU took a 5-0 lead through the first six innings of play.
- The Blue Hens had a five-run rally in the seventh inning. Tyer got the rally started reaching on base via an error. Immediately after, Amato hit a three-run home run. The rally finished with an Graeber solo home run, tying the game at 5-5.
- FIU took a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the seventh, but the Blue Hens tied it up with Graeber scoring on a wild pitch.
- Bouldin walked with the bases loaded to give the Blue Hens a 7-6 lead.
