Multi-Home Run Game from Graeber Leads to Win Over Maryland for Baseball

With the win, the Blue Hens are 2-5 overall on the season, and have now won two-straight
The last time the Blue Hens defeated Maryland was back on March 15, 2022 in Newark by a score of 6-3. UD defeated Maryland in College Park back on March 8, 2018 by a score of 7-1. It is Greg Mamula's first win over Maryland as the head coach of Delaware.Â
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Jackson Tyer led the way offensively, going 3-for-4 and driving in a run. He, along with Aaron Graeber (2-for-3, 2 HR, 3 RBIs, Aiden Stewart (2-for-4, RBI) and LT Cockrill (2-for-3, HR, 2 RBIs) had multiple hits.
- Aaron Graeber had his second multi-home run game over the last three games. He's hit five total home runs during the three game stretch.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Graeber got the scoring started in the top of the first with a solo homerun, giving Delaware a 1-0 lead.
- The teams traded homers in the second as Cockrill hit a two-run shot for the Hens, before Maryland led off the bottom of the frame with a solo shot to cut it to 3-1. The Terps added two more runs in the home half of the second to knot it up at three.
- UD struck for four runs on two hits, four walks, and a hit by pitch in the top of the fifth inning to take a 7-3 lead.
- Amato launched a three-run homer in the top of the sixth before Graeber tacked on his second solo shot of the game to make it 11-3.
- Maryland scored once in the seventh and six in the eighth to cut the Delaware lead to one.
- The Blue & Gold got two back in the top of the ninth, pushing the lead back up to three at 13-10.

Delaware hosts in-state rivals Delaware State on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. for its home opener at Bob Hannah Stadium.Â
