NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware women's golf sophomore Mary Grace Dunigan has been named the CAA Women's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday. The award is the first of the season for Dunigan, and third for the Blue Hens, recognizes Dunigan's performance at the Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, Arizona last weekend.
Dunigan carded a 2-under par 70 in the only round of action, finishing in a tie for second place in the 118-person field. She recorded a team-high six birdies over the 18 holes to equal her lowest round of the season. The runner-up finish was her best of the season and her second top-10 finish.
It is the second career weekly honor for Dunigan as she was also named the CAA Women's Golfer of the Week as a freshman while at William & Mary.
The Blue Hens turned in a team score of 11-over par 299 to place 11th in the 19-team field at the Red Rocks Invitational. The tournament was shortened to just 18 holes as snow delayed the start of play on Friday. Play was suspended midway through the first round as snow continued to fall and the course was deemed unplayable on Saturday before players completed the first round on Sunday.
UP NEXT
The Blue Hens will return to action on Saturday, March 22 when they make the short trip to Annapolis for a day of match play against Navy. Play will begin at 10 a.m. at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club.
