NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's golf heads south to North Carolina this weekend for the 2025 CAA Championship. The Blue Hens will look to defend their title from last spring when they came away with a four-stroke victory to win the third CAA championship in program history.
The Blue Hens have had a strong season leading up to the CAA Championship. They had two wins during the fall portion of the schedule, including the season opener at the Badger Invitational (Wisconsin) and the Lady Blue Hen Invitational. Delaware is coming off consecutive top-five finishes in its last two tournaments and has had five all season.
Alisa Khokhlova enters the CAA Championship on a tear, winning her second tournament of the season last weekend at the Terrapin Invitational. She also won the Lady Blue Hen Invitational for the second-straight year to end the fall campaign. The senior leads UD with a 73.92 stroke average and has a team-high 10 rounds at even- or under-par. Last spring, Khokhlova finished sixth at the CAA Championship while earning All-CAA First Team honors.
The defending CAA individual champion, Lilia Henkel comes into this year's tournament with six top-20 finishes on the season, including each of the past two tournaments. She is second on the team with 74.68 stroke average. Last spring, Henkel won the individual title in the first hole of a playoff to become the second Blue Hen to claim the honor. She sank a birdie putt on the 18th hole that clinched the team win and forced a playoff.
Mary Grace Dunigan will make her second appearance at the CAA Championship, and first as a Blue Hen. She tied for 25th last season as a freshman at William & Mary. Dunigan is third on the squad this year with a 74.84 stroke average, including a 74.00 average in 10 rounds this spring as she has had five rounds at even- or under-par. She had consecutive runner-up finishes at the Red Rocks Invitational and the More Than Golf Invitational last month.
Marissa Malosh recorded a 12th-place finish as a freshman at the CAA Championship last season. The sophomore had a 76.83 stroke average during the fall, including a top-20 finish at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational. She is coming off her best tournament of the spring as she carded a 9-over par over three rounds at the Terrapin Invitational.
Anushka Sawant will make her CAA Championship debut this weekend. The freshman is coming off her best performance of the season as she tied for 25th at the Terrapin Invitational with an 8-over par. She turned in a season-best 1-under par 71 in the second round.
The title defense will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning when Delaware tees off in the first round. Teams will play 18 holes on Friday, followed by the second round on Saturday and the final round on Sunday.
